Pigmentation

Benign skin pigmentations can be treated very efficiently using IPL or IPL/RF technology. This involves exposing excessive pigments to highly energetic intensive pulsed light. The light is absorbed by the melanin (the dark skin pigment in the skin) and converted into heat. The surrounding tissue is neither heated nor destroyed. The conversion of energy into heat causes the pigment to clot; the melanin flocculates and is “drawn” to the epidermis. The pigment change is shed bit by bit in the form of tiny skin flakes.

After treatment:  You may feel tingling of the skin, short term redness with a deep warming sensation immediately post treatment.

Results:  Pigmented spots and freckles may darken and after the treatment and within 1-2 days a fine flaky covering may develop over them which range in colour from brown to almost black similar looking to blisters.  This will shed over the next 3-5 days to reveal fresh skin with more neutral skin colourings.

For best results, it is recommended that a course of six treatments performed on a weekly basis with a follow up treatment every 6-8 weeks to maintain the results.
